Practice situation - when and where So far this year, it's been tough getting practices together. Fields are hard to come by and I know everyone is busy. I wish we were getting paid to play baseball, but unfortunately most of us need to work.
So, I'm opening up this discussion for ideas of when, where, and how to practice.
Where - Central Park is good, but chances aren't that great of getting a field. A bunch of us tried out McCarren Park in Williamsburg last night and it was ok. If more people came, we could have gotten the lighted field and practiced till we dropped (or at least until we stopped dropping balls). Anyone else know of any field possibilities? I will see about Riverside's availability.
When - What days work for you? If we can get a field that has lights, later might be better for some people. How many people are available during the day (when all fields are empty)? If there are like 6-8 people who are available during the day, they might as well get together. I sent out the phone list, so feel free to call people to organize mini-practices.
How - Practice should be more organized. Doing drills, keeping everyone on their toes, working on hitting, fielding, pitching and mental aspects of the game should all be covered. Anyone know any good drills? Last night we practiced hitting curveballs by using a whiffle ball. Fungos and fly balls are always good.
