New Uniforms this year?
Poll will close March 1st. Submit your vote now! This is only a vote for whether or not we should get new uniforms. If we do decide to, then we'll go over the possibilities and cost. There are full uniform packages for $70 and up. We could just do new jerseys and keep the hat and just all get gray pants, get a whole new ensemble, get home and away uniforms, stick with the ones from last year, go with the spandex look, etc..

The costs are already pretty high as it is, so I vote to keep the same general scheme as last year so most of us won't have to pay an arm and a leg for updates (I guess it makes less of a difference to new guys). I say that perhaps "upgrades" would be a good idea, though, for new guys and anyone who wants one; stitched lettering, maybe a better fabric (if one exists), but all in the same scheme as our existing uniforms so they all pretty much look the same. It's a nice enough scheme anyway, the only complaints I'd have are the non-stiched lettering and maybe the material, unless someone can think of a cooler scheme (which I'd be open to, it's a nice enough scheme but certainly nothing special). For pants, I vote we stick with the grey pants, since most people have grey baseball pants already anyway, and they're cheap. For hats, all I say is that we stick with the same logo (of course!) and color. Where we get it from doesn't really matter that much, since I already have mine, but I do think Lids is the best bet. Mike N doesn't like them, but I'm perfectly satisfied with mine, and most importantly, once you straighten it out with Lids (HURRY UP), it should be extremely easy to order more hats (just a few clicks online, rather than actually going to brooklyn or 42nd street or wherever). I was just wearing my hat for a little while and after a few minutes couldn't tell if I was wearing my MLB Boston cap or the Beers cap, so they're perfectly comfortable to me. We also already spent a one time fee of $80 on it so the more hats we get the cheaper they'll be overall. $70 for the whole thing sounds like a good deal, but I doubt that includes custom logo on the hats or stitching on the jerseys. If it does, look into it, but check out samples and stuff first. And hurry up if you're gonna consider it. Also, look into sponsorship. It doesn't sound that unrealistic, and if sponsorship is a possibility then it might be wise to wait and see if better uniforms would then be more affordable to us. Asking us about new uniforms now, before you've straightened things out with Lids, before you have any idea what these $70 packages include, before you've inquired about sponsorship, is completely pointless. Give us some actual concrete options, then maybe we can form an opinion. For now, I vote to stick with what we've got. On the general topic of uniforms, the Nippon-Ham Fighters unis are pretty badass: And the Turn Forward The Clock uniforms a few years ago were entertainingly awful: http://www.angelfire.com/blues/new_yorker/TATC.html (except the robot Cardinals and Brewers' Beer Barrel Man which are pretty badass, kind of like Megaman enemies or something. And the Mercury Mets). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr8KZwf9_VI&embed=1 EDIT: If we do decide to, then we'll go over the possibilities and cost. I think you got that in the wrong order, there. How about we go over possibilities and cost, THEN decide?

Nice clip about the futuristic uniforms.. very educational. Plus, it showed the famous Butch Husky wall-slam. Shopping for uniforms is a big process and if we decide to stick with the same ones, I'd rather not have gone through the trouble for nothing. Feel free to shop around now though... My pros for keeping the same uniforms are: less cost, less hassle (especially for me). Cons are: they're kinda cheap looking. Nice icon by the way..

I think I actually voted wrong in this poll since I just assumed it said should we get new uniforms. Since it's far too complicated for me to read something correctly. I vote that we get new uniforms. As far as shopping for new ones, don't we have that guy in astoria who would do it for us cheap and easy

I did the same thing as Mike actually...whoever made this thread is a vagina ...or he at least has one

so between the voting and the mis voting and the fact that most people are new and going to need something whether we go new or old....what's the verdict. It's $70 to $100 from what i understand.

PGDarling- 02-28-2007

If we decide to get new ones for $70 and they turn out to be just as crappy as the ones we have, well then we'll be looking pretty dumb, won't we? And out $70 (those of us who already have them, anyway). I'm not adverse to getting new uniforms, you just need to give us some info before we decide. $70 could be just for the jersey, with no number or names, one color, cheap fabric, for all we know (unless somebody actually has concrete info). You don't feel like looking up stuff, but if we decide to get new ones you'd have to anyway, and if we decide to without the info it's just a crapshoot anyway.

If anyone feels like initializing something, you can call Nelson Santiago at (917) 337-3705. He's charging $90 for a head to toe package. I think he's the guy who some of us saw at the meeting and the stuff looked pretty nice. It's good cause he's local. Right across the river in queens i think, so it'll be easy to see the product before buying, and easy for everyone to pick up their stuff.

PGDarling- 03-10-2007

If $90 includes custom beer logo on hat, sewn on names, numbers, and team name, it's... still more expensive than what we could get online, particularly if we already have pants. I doubt it includes all that stuff anyway, but if it does and the uniform looks and feels a lot better than the ones we've got, then go for it, I say. But we already paid the $80 fee for Lids, the hats for which should be very easy to obtain now that they're in the system (we'd need to -*test*-('") it out though--you did sort it out with them, right?) since we could order online with a few clicks whenever we needed any, if I understand their system correctly. If this guy can get us better, cooler looking jerseys for $50 (with sewn on names, numbers, etc.) then go for that, but I dont think our hat situation can get any easier or cheaper.

we probably can do better online or catalog. you pay a price for convenience, right now we have to get people. once that is solved i guess we can work on this issue

But anyway, since time is ticking on the uniform situation, I'm going to make sure our old uniforms are still readily available, just in case. The issue with the hats at LIDS has been resolved. They will re-digitize the logo free of charge, so that's good. If anyone has any alternatives for jersey's, now is the time to shop around.

Last chance for new uniforms people!! First game of the season is less than 1 month away (April 14th), so I'm going to start ordering jerseys and hats real soon so that they arrive before then. After the game Saturday, there is a league meeting. So I will wait until after that in case there is a uniform guy at the meeting with a really good deal. Anyone who wants to come is welcome. The meeting is right near the field and is supposed to start at 4 (right after the game). It's at a bar, so there will be food and drinks. Also, full fees are due, so please get em in to Mike N or me.
