Fall Season? If the NYCMBL decides to offer a fall league, are we interested?
Here's what the Commish has to say about it:
Also, please let me know whose interested in playing in Fall. That
season will probably start around the 3rd week in Sept and run to the
end of October, possibly the first week in November if the weather holds
up. Let me know asap.
What say you Beers?

I would love to, but I'll be at school. If I can figure out a way to get home on weekends I'd do it, but I don't think that's likely. I abstained from voting.

Preliminary cost info... Here's the email I sent out with up to date info:
Here are some details for the upcoming fall season. I will need to know by this Thursday if you are down. This will be a good oppurtunity to -*test*-('") out new talent, work out the kinks from the summer season, and have fun playing ball. If there is too much demand, not everyone will make it. Pitchers and people with cars are at a premium. Pass this on to whoever you think might be interested. The next email will only go out to those who reply to this one.
Cost - The fees will be at most $186 per player (assuming the bare minimum 10 people). With 12 players it will be $155 per person (assuming 16 9-inning games which is unlikely). The breakdown: League fees are $500 per team (the team that wins the Championship will get $1000). Umpire fees are $85 for a 9-inning game and $70 for a 7-inning game. The season will be 12-16 games so that means that the maximum team cost will be $1860 (if we play all 16 9-inning games). $1860 / 12 players = $155. If you're already sure you want in, give me $100 check, cash or paypal (click the logo) as soon as possible to ensure your spot.
Fields - Kaiser Park in Brooklyn will be one of the main fields (see attached map). It's the last stop on the D, F, N, Q and then a short bus ride. College Point will probably be used too. Possibly 145th st. again, and they're trying to get Roberto Clemente in the Bronx which is an awesome field.
Schedule - Like I said, season will be 12-16 games with 2 games per weekend (either a 7-inning double header 1 weekend day, or 1 9-inning games each weekend day). They also mentioned the possibility of night games somewhere. Hopefully we'll have a finalized schedule soon including dates, but assume the season to start very soon.
If all this is to your liking and you're ready to register, you can do so online here: http://www.leaguelineup.com/handouts.asp?cmenuid=17&url=nycmbl&sid=163318339
If you have any questions, let me know. Remember that time is of the essence because this is all starting soon. Good luck!
Here is the list of who's interested...
Fully D:
1) Adam
2) Nigel
3) Simon
4) Mike D
5) Drew
6) Steve
7) Andy
Partially D:
1) Mike N (might not make all games)
2) Pete (if he can find a way to make it from school)
Not ready, willing, or able:
Simon- 08-08-2006
What fields?
MikeD- 08-09-2006
What fields?
Another good question young man.
The Commish has the following to say on the subject (from the NYCMBL message board)
We aquired Kaiser Park in Brooklyn every Saturday and Sunday, every weekend in September and October. Not only does this mean we'll make up the games, but we're working on a fall season as well.
Kaiser Park isn't far from Keyspan Park, it has a grass infield and a nice mound. The park itself was re-done about a year ago. It's definately a step up from 145th and Marine.
I don't know if this is the only field. If you wanna check out the NYCMBL forums, the password is \\"managers\\". I like our message board better though.

Maybe I'll hitchhike home every weekend.
WHY IS MY COLLEGE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH NO BUS ACCESS TO CIVILISATION?

MikeD- 08-20-2006
Just got this email from the commish, so I'm letting everyone know. I'm going to try to make it. Does anyone want to accompany me? or go in my stead if I can't make it?
Hello,
This Friday, August 25th, we will be having a meeting to discuss the
fall league. The meeting will take place at ESPN Zone in Times Square
at 6pm. If your interested in placing a team in for the fall, you are
more than welcommed to attend. We have limited spots availiable for the
fall season so entrance into the league will be on a first come, first
served basis. If you would like to attend, or your interested in
playing in the fall, but are not availiable to attend the meeting on
Friday, please let me know me and I will be more than happy to try to
accomodate you with an alternate date and time to meet.
We're looking to continue on the successfull year the NYCMBL has had
with a strong and competative fall season. We would like to see your
ballclubs be apart of the league's success. We hope to see you there!
Cordially,
Joel Marcano

I'll play. same fields as the summer league?
PGDarling- 08-22-2006
I'm placing myself on the 6 day DL (yeah that's right, 6 day) with an... injured right metatarsus (x-rays as to whether it's broken or not will be analyzed tomorrow). The move is retroactive to Saturday, August 19th.
Whether or not this affects my chances to participate in a fall league remains to be seen. I'm still hoping to be back for this saturday's game, though (hence the made up \"6 day\" DL)
Anyway I might figure out a way to get back ot the city for weekends, still researching possibilities. There's a ride board with plenty of people going to and from Washington DC/Baltimore, but I hate relying on other people (and having people rely on me) especially with no appealing backup plan.
