Boston and Matsuzaka
Even though there are very few people that read this site, I know there are a couple of Boston fans so I just wanted to present this argument to you and see why you disagree. The way Boston is negotiating right now is complete horseshit. They put up almost $20 mill more than any other team to earn the negotiating rights, and now they are saying that price should be included in the contract they give him. They may be honestly trying to sign him (and who wouldn't) but they have definitely worked the system unfairly. If you think that his contract should have the posting fee worked into it, than I ask you this: Next time a superstar like this comes up for posting, why not simply figure out how much his contract should be, let's say $100 mill, and just bid $90 mill and then offer him a contract worth only $10 mill? Will he be pissed off? sure. Will you be upset if you can't sign him for only $10 mill? sure. But no other team will get a shot at him, and you haven't spent any money. If you think I'm wrong, please tell me why.

Yeah, that would suck, bidding $90 million and offering $10 million, but $10 million/year is reasonable. At any rate, everybody wins in the current scenario. Matsuzaka gets to play in the US for pretty good money, Boston gets a (hopefully) awesome pitcher, the Seibu Lions get a shitload of money to offset the loss of their star player which they'll be using to renovate their stadium and other stuff. Everybody wins except Boras who must be disappointed, but when Boras loses, the rest of us win because Boras sucks.

Except now the posting system will be a complete joke next time a good player comes around
