6/05/05 - Good news and bad news from this weekend Good news first: We had enough players for both games and everyone was on time. Even to the 9:00 AM start on Sunday!
Bad news: We took 2 tough losses.
On Saturday, The Beers were down 4-1 early, but in the bottom of the 5th, leadoff man Max drew a walk, Mike D singled, Rob had an RBI double, and then Brendan hit a 3-run blast to bring the Beers to a 5-4 lead. Phenom pitcher Justin was intimidating the Knights left and right. In fact, he intimidated 6 of them straight into the hospital. Brendan went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Justin went 1 for 2 with 2 walks and an RBI. Max played stellar defense even without his prized mini-mitt.
On Sunday morning, The Beers had to face 2 opponents: The NY Heat, and... The New York HEAT (The mercury rose to 87 degrees). Brian made his first start and ran into some bad luck, and some poor plays behind him. Final score was 15-7. Dave was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Max had a nice unassisted double play. Newcomer Paul showed some speed on the basepaths with 2 steals. Good job everyone for being on time to such an early start. Pete is on the DL but still showed up to help the team.
