5/6/06 - Beers Win One in Extra Innings, Lose 2nd Game Beers Pull Off the Walkoff Win in Extra Innings
Game 1 - Beers 6, Red Sox 5
The Beers got off to a shaky start when the Red Sox's first 5 batters got on base resulting in 3 runs. But Beers' starting pitcher Andrew Pobuda quickly settled down and proceeded to pitch four no-hit innings. Then, in the 6th inning, the Sox took a 5-2 lead. But in the bottom of the 6th, the Beers tied it up. They were able to get out of a couple jams and tire out the Red Sox. Until in the bottom of the 9th (which the umpires declared the last inning before the game was suspended) and 2 outs, Mike D demonstrated his speed game by beating out an infield single, stealing 2nd, then stealing 3rd and advancing to score the game winner on an errant throw by the Red Sox catcher.
Andrew pitched a great game and Chris Adamo came in to get the win in the 9th inning. Chris also had a big solo shot.
Mike D was 2 for 4 with the game-tying RBI and the game-winning run.

I have an addition to the podcast's "Cool or Not Cool" section:
Steve's rough day - Cool or Not Cool?
It was actually pretty cool, because despite going 0-6 with 6 K's, we could not have won that first game without him. If you remember, he made it to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike and ended up being the tying run. How often can someone say they contributed to a win with a golden sombrero? (Sorry for bringing it up Steve).

For anyone that likes it, I want to know why it's necessary. And for you environmentalist wackos out there...aren't two trains that go the exact same place wasteful!

necessary Liking something does not require it to be a necessity

I didn't make up the poll question. It should be do you think it's necessary.

thanks for bringing that up mike. you could have just said i went 0 for 6, that's bad enough. i had an error too? i dont remember that one. i was actually thinking i had a decent day in the field which made up for at least 1 strikeout. thanks again for making me feel even worse.

You had some trouble picking up a ball out there in the OF which let the runners advance an extra base (according to my judgement, anyway). I'm a harsh official scorer :? . Just trying to keep it honest. Other than that you did have a good day in the field, though, as far as I remember, that was just some bad luck. After the game a couple weeks ago I'm the King of Errors anyway so I wouldn't feel bad until you drop 2 out of 2 easy fly balls like I did.
