Good points Mo!
I mentioned some of those on my segment on the
podcast. Such as stealing, signs and the need for more action on the bench (action not involving the opposite sex, :? . I would have to agree with
Keith Hernandez's controversial point of view).
When we're playing badly, as in the 2nd game, it's easy to try to blame anything but oneself. As Mike N mentioned in the podcast, it was not the sun, lack of sun, umpires, etc that messed us up.
We should definitely cut down on the negative energy. Negative energy is:
- Whining
- Complaining
- Annoying the manager about certain positions we want to play (which in turn annoys everyone else and creates discontent)
- Excuses
- Errors (Errors are very demoralizing, especially to a pitcher)
And we need to pump up the positive energy. Positive energy is:
- Cheering
- Making noise (it gives the other team the impression that we believe we can win)
- Telling the oposing pitcher what kind of Chinese chicken you want (good one, Ozzie)
- Dutifully playing where you're needed without complaining
-
Putting the team ahead of yourself
Most of us understand this concept, so I encourage those of us who have a firm understanding of what a team is to try to educate those of us who don't. We should all be comfortable enough with each other to give a friendly "shut up and sit down" when it's needed. :)
