3/7/06 - The Beers 2006 - Scrimmage This Sunday! Get your gloves out, Spring is just about here and we already have a scrimmage scheduled for THIS SUNDAY (3/12/06) against the Knights. Be sure to come if you can, we've got lots of details to work out, rosters to determine, new players to meet, decisions to make, all that kind of thing. The sooner we get all this stuff sorted out, the better off we'll be (you can forget about last year's forfeits early in the season). This year's league seems to be a bit more organized, stats will be posted on their site, nicer fields (supposedly mostly high school fields but the field situation should be determined for good on Saturday). If we all show some enthusiasm we will rock this year (we came very close to beating last year's champions, the College Point Clippers, so really we didn't suck THAT badly). So all of you who haven't yet, be sure to get back to Mike D (potrod<AT>gmail.com) regarding your baseball plans for this summer, and I hope we have as many people from last year as we can since it was a great group with lots of potential.
Also, if there is interest we can have a practice this Friday, and possibly a cage session on Saturday (where there will also be a manager's meeting for the league, after which most of the league details will hopefully be determined).
The scrimmage this Sunday will be at 1 PM at Juniper Field in Queens (click for the map and satellite image--hopefully the field we're playing on is one of the 2 nice ones, although the other hardball field doesn't look that bad).

I'm down for practice Friday. Anyone know if the Central Park fields are open yet? or we could go to Riverside.
The managers' meeting is at The Cage in Middle Village, Queens on Saturday at 4:30, so if anyone wants to use the cages before and/or after, I'll be there.
