3/26/06 - Beers Even Up Preseason Record at 1-1, Face Red Sox this Saturday First Win - Lessons from last game apparently have been learned. Almost everyone showed up which is great. We played a full 9 innings and got everyone some good at bats. Defense definitely improved from last game. Given the field conditions at 145th st. there were a few inevitable errors, but we looked pretty solid in the field. In fact, we looked pretty solid all around. Lou had another good start and lasted 6 innings and only gave up 2 earned runs. Andrew came in for 2 innings of good relief and added a monster RBI-Triple. The game was an unmanageable 4 hours and the temperature was cold, but there's nothing like a first win to warm us up. The stats may have some discrepancies... our scorebook got kinda crazy with all the subs and resubs. Expect much more accurate scorekeeping in future games. BOX SCORE Next Game - The Beers will play the Queens Red Sox this coming Saturday, April 1st at 12:00 PM at Juniper Valley Park. Our scouts have done their homework on the Red Sox and found that they are a good team. Three of their pitchers combined to 1-hit the Clippers a couple weeks ago. They are 3-1 in the preseason so it should be a good game.
